The House of Moussaieff, one of the most discreet and exclusive High Jewellery emporiums in the world, was founded two centuries ago.
In the l850s, Mr. Moussaieff, grandfather of the present owner and a pearl-merchant with a fearless passion for jewels, would spend days in the deserts of Arabia, in search of the most ravishing natural pearls from the Persian Gulf. He would buy the pearls directly from the divers and trade them throughout the area for rare and glittering gemstones from India. His knowledge and expertise were passed down to his son, who moved to Paris and established himself as a leading dealer in natural Oriental pearls and precious gemstones, supplying the great Parisian master jewellers of the Belle Époque and the l920s.
It did not take long before very important private connoisseurs discovered the name Moussaieff and a few decades later, in 1963, the first boutique was inaugurated in London. Since then, always with the same discretion, Moussaieff Jewellers has become a name that is synonymous with the finest and rarest gems which adorn the international royal families, heads of states as well as discerning collectors of the most stunningly beautiful jewels.
More than 50 years later, Alisa Moussaieff, is still the mastermind and driving force behind this fabulous family venture. She has become one of the most influential and respected players in the diamond and precious stones market, known for her instinct, her dedication and passion for the rarest gems. Over the years, Moussaieff has built up an extraordinary collection of jewels, which includes such historic pieces as the ‘Moussaieff Red’, which at 5.11cts, is the largest Natural Fancy Red diamond in the world.
