INTRODUCTION

 

This statement is made on behalf of Moussaieff Jewellers Ltd pursuant to the section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Action 2015 and comprises our slavery and human trafficking statement.

 

OUR BUSINESS

 

Our business of luxury retailing of exquisite jewellery and watches is conducted from our prestigious London boutiques in Mayfair and Park Lane. We also liaise with our other independent Moussaieff outlets in Hong Kong and Geneva in order to meet our customers’ requirements thus offering them a better variety of products to choose from.

 

OUR SUPPLY CHAINS

 

Our supply chains include outplacement of IT services, plus outplacement of certain other routine administrative tasks that are commoditised in nature. Outplacement is to onshore providers.

 

OUR POLICIES ON SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

 

We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our own business. Our Anti-slavery Policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our business and in our supply chains.

 

DUE DILIGENCE PROCESSES FOR SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

 

As part of our initiative to identify risk and mitigate against such risks, our directors carry out regular reviews to ensure that our anti-slavery and human trafficking policy is being followed by the management in all areas of our business.

We have in place systems across our business and our supply chains to:

• Identify inappropriate employment practices
• Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring
• Identify and monitor other potential risk areas
• Protect whistleblowers

 

SUPPLIER ADHERENCE TO OUR VALUES AND ETHICS

 

We have zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking. To ensure all those in our supply chain comply with our values, we operate in line with principles of responsible sourcing, including paying employees at the prevailing minimum wage applicable. We expect our suppliers to adhere to the same principles of best practice by sourcing responsibly.

 

DIRECTORS’ ANNUAL REPORT ON THEIR RISK ASSESSMENT REVIEW AND FINDINGS

 

The directors confirm that they have overall responsibility for implementing the anti-slavery and human trafficking policy and for reviewing its effectiveness on a regular annual basis. This requires that the management at all levels must report any such instances of concern promptly to the directors so as to enable them to take immediate corrective action.

During the year ended 31 March 2023, the directors carried out an annual review in accordance with the anti-slavery and human trafficking guidelines.

Their discussions with the managers in our UK boutiques confirmed that there were no instances of slavery or human trafficking in our company during the year.

There were also no instances of any reports received by our managers relating to unethical sourcing of precious and semi-precious stones from zones of conflict by our supply chains.

We will never knowingly engage with a supplier involved in such unethical sourcing practices; and if we suspect or become aware of any such cases, we will engage constructively with the supplier for their immediate remedial action or otherwise refrain from doing any further business with them.

The directors’ review also confirmed that there were no cases of forced labour, physical or sexual violence, slavery, intimidation, bullying or harassment arising within our management and workforce during the year under review.

Furthermore, no employee will be treated detrimentally on the grounds that they have reported in good faith to the management or directors their suspicion of instances of modern slavery in our business or supply chain.

 

TRAINING

 

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business, in our supply chains and in our business partners, we provide relevant training to our staff.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our modern slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ended 31 March 2023.
